Today I discovered LogMeIn Hamachi: Instant, Zero Configuration VPN. ![]()
What is a VPN? The easy answer to this question is "a VPN is a LAN, but each PC could be everywhere, not necessary fisically wired togheter.", in fact VPN stay for Virtual Private Network.
The use of a VPN allows different PCs to see each other directly with a dedicated IP, via a dedicated virtual network card, thus a PC can share files, folders, printers, etc, just like being in the same office, even if they are far away, like Rome and Boston.
Other then file sharing, with a VPN it is possible to use networking game functionality, desktop control, and many other stuffs involving public IP's addresses.
The Hamachi solution provide direct connectivity with a unique IP to any PC in the VPN, even if beyond router or proxy.
